Illegal immigration is a hot-button issue. Especially for the Trump administration as they continue to roll out their comprehensive plans for the future. It is something they have gone toe-to-toe with Congressional and Senate Democrats with. Whether it is DACA, Dreamers, illegal immigration, or cheap labor, the debate never ends. While violent MS-13 gangs, filled with illegal aliens, should be a bipartisan issue it appears that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has been taking up for them.
Recently, President Trump and his Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders called MS-13 gang members animals. But apparently, House Minority Leader Pelosi does not agree. When asked to comment on President Trump and his crackdown on MS-13 gangs Pelosi said the following,
“We believe, some of us that are attracted to the political arena, to government and public service, that we’re all God’s children. There’s a spark of divinity in every person on earth and that we all have to recognize that. As we respect the dignity and worth of every person. And as we recognize our responsibilities with that spark of divinity within us. And so when the President of the United States says about undocumented immigrants, ‘These aren’t people, these are animals,’ you have to wonder: does he not believe in the spark of divinity, the dignity and worth of every person? ‘These are not people, these are animals.’ The President of the United States
“Fox News Radio’s Todd Starnes reacted to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi ripping President Donald Trump for calling MS-13 gang members “animals.” Pelosi (D-Calif.) said there is a “spark of divinity” in every person and that by Trump making the remark about other human beings during a roundtable at the White House calls into question whether he believes in that ideal.
“I wish that Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats had as much compassion for the families of those loved ones k****d by illegals on American soil as she does for MS-13,” Starnes said on FBN’s “The Evening Edit.” Starnes said Pelosi did not offer such an outcry after fellow San Franciscan Kate Steinle was murdered by an illegal immigrant felon. Elizabeth MacDonald noted that Mexico’s Secretary of Foreign Affairs also criticized Trump for the “animals” remark. “President Trump referred to some immigrants [as “animals”]. Perhaps he had criminal gangs in mind… In the opinion of the Mexican government, this is absolutely unacceptable,” Luis Videgaray said, according to MacDonald. Starnes also dismissed Videgaray’s criticism.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) also piled on after Trump described the brutal gang as “animals” during a roundtable at the White House on Wednesday. “You wouldn’t believe how bad these people are. These aren’t people, these are animals, and we’re taking them out of the country at a level and at a rate that’s never happened before,” Trump said.
Media outlets including C-SPAN, the New York Times, ABC News, NBC News, CBS News and CNN did not put Trump’s words in context or ran with stories claiming he used the term “animals” to describe illegal immigrants more broadly. Some outlets later corrected or clarified their reporting, but others – including The Washington Post – did not. Pelosi apparently didn’t get the memo, claiming the president had generally referred to undocumented immigrants as “animals.””
The hypocrisy is absolutely astounding and it is exactly why Democrats will lose the midterm elections again. But if they continue to dig their heels in and pretend that the Republican Party and President Trump are the devils reincarnated they will continue to flounder. They need to revamp their message and turn things around the way the Republican Party did. Which is exactly why Republicans have been winning elections. However, the likelihood of Democrats having that much self-awareness is slim to none.
Now, if Pelosi was referring to young children or adults brought to the United States that would be one thing. However, she was referring to MS-13 gang members who President Trump denounced. Apparently, they have a spark of divinity that needs to be celebrated and acknowledged. But if the Democratic party cares so much about the value of life why are they pro-choice and pro-abortion? It is alright to be in favor of murdering young children but we have to be ok with felonious criminals who come here illegally? The type of distorted rationale hear is mind-boggling.
